Another of the theories I need to understand before creating my own product is Representation Theory. Below is a Prezi presentation on it and a deconstruction of representations in the music video Dani California by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Reception Theory

I have also researched different audience theories with particular focus on Reception Theory as this is more aplicable to audiences now which are no longer passive but active. Understanding what audiences want and how they digest texts is imperative when making my own product as I need to know how they decode meanings and how to encode the preferred reading.

Genre Therory

As my product has to link to and be influenced by a number of theories I have created a Prezi presentation on Genre Theory focusing on the genre of horror.

Year 13 Briefs

We have been given a choice fo two briefs.
The first is:
"A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following three options:

• a website homepage for the band
• a cover for its DVD release
• a magazine advertisement for the DVD"

The second option is:

"A short film in its entirety, lasting approximately five minutes, which may be live action or animated or a combination of both, together with two of the following three options:

• a poster for the film
• a radio trailer for the film 
• a film magazine review page featuring the film"

I must also link the brief I choose to a number of theories such as media language, representation, genre, audience and narrative and use these theories in the development and creation of my product.
